SPECIAL MEETING
LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL
The Lancaster City Council met in special
session on Thursday, May 24, 2012at 7:00PM to review and consider
awarding the bids for the community center construction and food
service equipment that were opened on May 21, 2012. The following members were
present: Rice, Stenquist, Nordin and Olson. Swenson was absent. Also present at the meeting
were Robert Farbo, Ray Johnson and Matt Holtz.
The mayor, Gary Rice, reviewed the bid
tabulations for the community center construction and corresponding
construction alternate and the food service equipment bid. The council reviewed the
recommendation letter from Ron Jasmer, architect with Widseth, Smith
and Nolting; bid review letter from the City Attorney, Bruce Nielsen
and correspondence from Andrew Gag, representative for USDA Rural
Development. Jasmer
recommends accepting the construction bid from Bordertown
Construction, Inc. and Culinex for food service equipment. Attorney Nielsen attended
the bid opening and reviewed the bidding procedures and feels that
the bidding meets state and federal requirements for competitive
bidding. Andrew Gag,
USDA, has submitted to the city a worksheet reviewing eligible and
ineligible community center costs.
The council reviewed bid tabulations,
construction alternates and food service equipment needs.
Stenquist moved to approve the base
construction bid from Bordertown Construction, Inc. in the amount of
$649,600.00; Alternate #1 (west site work) $10,500.00; alternate #2
(east site work) $5380.00; alternate #3 (storm sewer); alternate #5
(roof) $10,800.00; aleternate #6 (doors) for a total of $706,580.00,
second by Barron and carried with none voting against.
The food service bid acceptance has been
tabled until the June 13, 2012 regular council meeting. The city has 60 days to
accept or reject the bid.
